Like the rest of the world is doing, we are coming to grips with the new situation brought about by COVID-19.  Since the time that the provincial government recommended measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, we have closed our Avenue P office to patient visits.  During this time, our urologists have continued to provide care through virtual visits (telephone and video), carrying out emergency and urgent surgery, and seeing patients in-person at St. Paul's Hospital at the discretion of the urologist.

We have developed a plan to re-open our Avenue P office and are awaiting some minor construction changes designed to maintain a safe workplace for our staff.  We anticipate being able to re-open our office in the week of May 19.

We just celebrated our 1 year anniversary of moving to our terrific new office at 410 Avenue P South.  This past weekend, the building won 2 awards at the 2017 Premier's Awards of Excellence in Design.  Congratulations to Jim Siemens and team (Oxbow Architecture) on winning the People's Choice award, and the Award of Merit for Integrated Design.  

Also, Collective Coffee (ground floor of our building) won my personal award for best Eggs Benedict at brunch this weekend.   I just discovered that they are open for brunch on Saturday, in addition to serving great coffee and food during the rest of the week.

This year's Prostate Cancer Symposium is already generating excitement! Yesterday, I was happy to meet a couple who are looking forward to the Symposium and said they have found previous events very useful and that the information they received has encouraged them to speak with other men (and their partners) about prostate cancer.   It was great to hear that!

This year's Prostate Cancer Symposium may be the best ever!  We are thrilled that Dr. Richard Wassersug from Vancouver will be our keynote speaker.  He will be addressing a topic that affects many men living with prostate cancer - Hormone therapy.  There will also be short presentations about physiotherapy, psychologic aspects of prostate cancer diagnosis, MRI scanning and the latest on local research at the Canadian Light Source/Synchrotron.   Also, back by popular demand is the expert panel answering audience questions.

The Symposium will be held at the Radisson Hotel in Saskatoon on Saturday, November 4.  Continental breakfast and check-in start at 7:30 am and the program starts at 8 am.  We finish at 12 noon.

We've been in our new office for 9 months.  We love it!  The space is open with plenty of light.  There is plenty of parking next to the office. (Don't forget to pay at the meter!) Collective Coffee on the ground floor serves sandwiches, pastries, muffins and a variety of hot and cold drinks.  Plus, we are now right across the street from St. Paul's Hospital - our home base.

As of September 26, Saskatoon Urology Associates will be moving from the Medical Arts Building on Spadina Crescent to a new office adjacent to St. Paul's Hospital on Avenue P.

This year's Urology Symposium will be held on Saturday November 5, 2016.  We're excited to welcome 2 great keynote speakers.  Dr. Jay Lee from Calgary is an expert on treating sexual dysfunction - an important issue for men after prostate cancer treatment.  Dr. Mira Keyes is a radiation oncologist and one of the founders of the British Columbia Prostate Brachytherapy (radiation seed) Program.  Also, back by popular demand, is the expert panel answering audience questions.

The program is in the morning until noon.  Thanks to our gracious sponsors and supporters, we are able to offer the Symposium at no charge.  The program is created for men with prostate cancer and their families, but everyone is welcome to attend.  Health professionals are particularly welcome!
